In the U.S, everything is bigger. The drinks are bigger (a small in the US is like a medium or large back home), the theme parks are bigger and even the trees are bigger! That was the general vibe heading down from Vancouver all the way to Arizona: the bigger the better. Starting from Vancouver, we passed through Seattle and Portland on the very first day - only stopping at Moda Centre, home of the Trailblazers for dinner. Leaving Portland, we put our heads down and tanked for California. Along the way, we encountered some enormous redwoods, many podcasts and very long highways with 12+ lanes (the bigger the better!)
On the second day, we stopped in San Francisco to check out all the famed movie spots (Lombard street, Alcatraz prison, the Golden Gate Bridge, downtown frisco) and explored the city by cable car. It was a lot of fun… but not compared to the big lights of LA the next day.
On the way to visiting one of my mom’s work friends in downtown LA, we made a much needed pit stop at Venice beach (aka “Muscle Beach”) where we had a blast! We played basketball on the famous street courts and swam with the surfers in the massive waves which really helped settle down the homesickness we were all feeling.
That night, once we finally got to our Anaheim hotel, we sat back and got ready… to be walking for about 8 hours a day.
The next day, at around 6:30 in the
morning, we all had mixed feelings of excitement and grogginess as we made our way to the tram that would take us to “the land of happiness…” not really knowing what was in store for us the next three days. However, after going on almost every ride and trying all sorts of super unhealthy weird food for three full days, if you asked me and my bros: “how was Disneyland?” We would respond with one word: Incredible. The whole place is designed to make you giddy with excitement during the day and dead tired during the evening!
All in all the trip is going pretty good, we have had minimal car sickness lots of fun experiences and almost zero incidents (as I write this - earlier today - we passed one of the hardest borders to cross in Mexico in only 2 hours). So, thank you for supporting this trip by reading our blog and keep praying for us!
Hasta luego amigos!!!
